I had difficulty verbalizing my experience of "the divine". The turbulent experiences I have with christianity, Black religious traditions, and spirituality place me into a position of vulnerability that is difficult to sit with. The process of painting this work was a journey from my past into the present. The use of my hands in order to move around the paint unveils a level of unpolished sincerity. It is overflowing with catharsis.
